Our Story
A familiar Synchro story.
Fina hated removing the hardened Knox gelatin from her hair after swim meets and shows. She really complained: "It is painful, takes a long time, smells horrible, keeps me away from celebration parties." She told her Dad about it and explained that all of her artistic swimming teammates had the same trouble. Everyone complained. A big problem for all — with no alternative. So that's just how it is. We live with it.
But Fina didn't want to do that. She challenged her Dad and grandfather ( Bapa) they should invent something to put on her hair that would magically remove all the hardened Knox from swimmers' hair. After months of testing, experimenting, and refining the formula. Poof here it is: KnoxAway®.
Where the problem — and the idea — began.
Our Family
The Moment the Idea Clicked
My Dad is a biochemistry professor whose work specializes in applied biochemistry and enzyme design. His career focus is on food proteins. One realisation changed everything. Knox Gelatin is a protein. The collagen protein problem was one he knew in detail.

When I asked for help removing hardened Knox gel, the solution became clear. Dad identified a patented enzyme that could dissolve the hardened Knox in minutes at room temperature. The problem was finally cracked.

Dad knew exactly what to do. Together we tested selective enzymes in water and lemon juice to see if the idea would work. This first successful application became the proof of concept that launched KnoxAway®.

From Prototype to Product
Formulated by someone who's built dozens.
With decades of enzyme and consumer products, my Bapa knew exactly how to solve the initial water viscosity challenge. With me leading the way, I knew my product had to work. Together, we developed a gentle, thickened formulation that safely breaks down hardened Knox while leaving hair soft, refreshed, and with a happy scent.

My Dad and my Bapa had founded and managed dozens of bio-startups, so starting this journey felt like the natural next step. Together, we founded AquaCare by Fina, Inc., developed the product, trademarked the KnoxAway® logo, and opened a bank account to purchase over 200 ingredients for testing. Along the way, we filed for more patents, continued refining the formulation, and produced enough KnoxAway for the 2026 summer shows and meets. We gave it away for free in exchange for honest feedback because I wanted to make sure it truly worked for the swimmers who inspired me.

Together, the three of us have the technology, manufacturing, market knowledge, and direct access to the enthusiastic swimmers we needed. Young swimmers, parents, and coaches love KnoxAway® and there's potential for more skin and hair care products too.
